“The soft underbelly of the internet eviscerated for all the world to see.” is a shock site with the slogan “An archive of disturbing illustration”. It is devoted to morbid curiosities, primarily pictures of violent acts, deformities, autopsy or forensic photographs, depictions of perverse sex acts, and historical curios that are disturbing or misanthropic in nature. This was actually my first taste of “that side of the internet.” Back in the days of AOL dial-up, I was 12 and just beginning to wean off Goosebumps books. The creepypasta genre used to consist of R.L. Stine and Are You Afraid of the Dark on Nickelodeon. Morbid curiosity brought me to this altar of horrific imagery. It was a dedicated freak show of a picture collage for my young eyes to scroll through. Nowadays all you have to do is type in the image search to find anything of this nature to your heart’s content. But in those days, you had to specifically go to to fulfill the dark monstrosity that was the mind. It will be missed, as it hasn’t been updated since February 2012. So, I guess R.I.P.
